Mission Indradhanush (Phase II) launched in Thoubal

Thoubal, October 07 2015:
Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal and Chairman of District Health Society, Thoubal T Ranjit Singh on Wednesday launched Mission Indradhanush-2015 (Phase II) under the theme "Be Wise: Get Your Child fully immunized" at Conference Hall of DC office, Thoubal.
Speaking on the occasion, T Ranjit said, "The main objective of the programme is immunization against seven life-threatening diseases�Diphtheria, Whooping cough, Tetanus, Polio, Tuberculosis, Measles and Hepatitis B .
The mission also aims to vaccinate all the children by 2020 to free them from the seven deathly diseases, he added during the function organised by District Health Society, Thoubal.
He further said that target of the mission is to achieve 90 percent immunization in Thoubal.
The Mission Indradhanush, formulated by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, intended to expand immunization coverage in India to at least 90 percent of the children in the next five years, he added.
The second phase commenced on October 7 which will continue for a week.
This will be followed by a week-long intensified immunization drive for three consecutive months, starting November 7 .
District Family Welfare officer, Thoubal, Dr N Akendra Singh; Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal, N Jayentakumar; District Programme Manager (DPM), Thoubal, H Rishikes Sharma and other medical officers, doctors, nurses and ASHAs also attended the function.
