"Farmers' Field Day on Rapeseed-Mustard" held

Imphal, February 07 2025: A "Farmers' Field Day on Rapeseed-Mustard" was organised by AICRP on Rapeseed-Mustard, College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal at Kachikhul village, Imphal West today.

It was conducted under the NEH Component of AICRP on Rapeseed-Mustard Scheme, ICAR-Indian Institute of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

The programme was graced by dignitaries, including CAU, Imphal, Vice Chancellor, Dr Anupam Mishra; Director of Research, Dr Lalita Mohan Gamayak; Maklang Gram Panchayat, Pradhan, Lukram Leimahal Devi; and Director of Instruction & Dean, College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, Prof Indira Sarangthem.

A total of 200 beneficiaries from three villages namely Kachikhul Guruji Loukol, Ngairangbam Tanoukhul Loukol and Ngairagbam Pullei Loukol also attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pushparani Senjam, Scientist (Plant Breeding) highlighted the achievements made under NEH Component of AICRP (Rapeseed-mustard) Scheme during the last five years and the activities carried out during the rabi, 2024-25 .

Dr LM Gamayak shared the ideas of different cropping systems which can be followed in the State arid also highlighted the varieties of different crops suitable in rainfed regions and their cultivation practices to be carried out in rice fellow areas.

Dr Anupam Mishra shared insightful knowledge on choosing right crop varieties, establishment method of rapeseed-mustard cultivation and raising the right crop in rice fallow.

Prof Indira Sarangthem stressed on the importance of using Single Super Phosphate as a source of phosphatic fertilizers in cultivation of oilseed crops.

The programme concluded with the distribution of inputs such as beeboxes, battery operated knapsack sprayers and tarpaulin to the farmer beneficiaries and a field visit at Guruji Loukol, Kachikhul covering an area of 63.25 ha.

Dr Diana Shamurailatpam, Scientist (Agronomy) was also present at the event.
