AMNM observes 85th foundation day

Imphal, January 07 2025: The All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) observed its 85th foundation day at Irawat Bhawan located at BT Road today.

The ceremony was graced by M Sakhi, president, AMNM; L Sumatibala, secretary, AMNM; M Kadamani, patron member AMNM and Y Ibeni, former president AMNM as the presidium members.

Delivering the keynote address, L Sumatibala said that AMNM was formed 85 years ago to create a society free of oppression in the aftermath of the second Nupi Lan movement which erupted on December 12, 1939.She added that the Lup has worked consistently for the empowerment and upliftment of women with special focus on education of rural women.

AMNM has also participated in many important issues of the State, she remarked.

L Sumatibala went on to state that the observance ceremony was held to pay homage to the founders of AMNM who also led the charge in the 2nd Nupi Lan movement.
