Milk producers threaten to stop supply from Oct 19

Supply of milk to the public by the farmers is likely to be stopped if the newly appointed Board of Directors of Manipur Milk Producers' Co-operative Union is not made functional by October 18 .
Addressing a press conference in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, Secretary of Milk Producers and Suppliers Co-operative Society Limited, Ningthoukhong P Gyaneswar pointed out that the election of the new Board of Directors was held on August 31 last during a general body meeting of Manipur Milk Producers Co-operative Union.
In all eight directors from the four valley districts and one Director each from Churachandpur and Senapati district have been elected.
However, the newly appointed 10 directors have not been able to take charge and function till today.
As the newly appointed Board of Directors has not been made functional, the Milk Producers' Union is as good as defunct today.
On top of this, farmers who are producing the milk are facing lot of problem.
So, the authority concerned should ensure functioning of the newly appointed Board of Directors by October 18.Otherwise, all the co-operative societies in different parts of the State engaged in production of milk would be compelled to stop supply of milk to the public, Gyaneswar made it clear.
Secretary of Thanga Dairy Farmers' Co-operative Society Tongbram Raghu and Secretary of Progressive Diary Farming, Keinou L Pradip were also present during the press conference.
