Deputy Secy must apologize to people: HERICOUN

HERICOUN has demanded a public apology from Deputy Secretary of Art and Culture Department Kimjalhai Kipgen for the letter written to Sana Konung Semgat Lup on behalf of the State Government about acquisition of Sana Konung.
Talking to media persons in this regard today, Vice-President of HERICOUN Ratankumar said that the letter written by the Deputy Secretary of Art and Culture Department has humiliated the King of Manipur.
In the letter, the Government has stated its ugly intention of providing King's accommodation on rent.
The State Government has indeed humiliated the King and his people, he maintained.
He further stated that a mass public meeting would be convened on August 10 to discuss the State Government's decision on acquisition of the Royal Palace.
Further course of agitation to be taken up against the Palace takeover would also be announced during the meeting.
Ratankumar also asserted that the Supreme Court's ruling in the case of MK Tokendra Vs Government of India and the Merger Agreement does not allow acquisition of King's private properties by the Government.
The decision to acquire Sana Konung for development into a historical monument is in violation of the agreement, he added.
Meanwhile, the protest meet against the State Government's decision to acquire Sana Konung for development into a historical monument completed 44 days today.
Members of Salai Taret Enaat Saklon Kanba Lup, Ima Chinga Lairembi Thougal Lup and Khwai Lamphel Women's United Development Organization, Thangmeiband participated in today's protest meet.
