Contrary to the demand of some social organizations for appointment of the next State's Chief Secretary from among the local IAS officers, International Meeteis' Forum (IMF) has put forward a proposal for appointment of a non-local Chief Secretary who would work wholeheartedly for the State without any communal biasness.
Addressing media persons at the office of International Meeteis' Forum, Yaiskul Moirangkhom here today, former member of MHRC Lt Col (retired) RK Rajendra said that different communities have been living in peace and harmony in the State since time immemorial.
However, the State is now running through a turbulent period with demands for Statehood, Inner Line Permit System and others.
In such a critical situation, it would be difficult to choose the Chief Secretary from among the local IAS officers, he contended.
He further said that the proposal for appointment of a non-local Chief Secretary is for the betterment of the State.
The new Chief Secretary would be expected to perform his responsibilities with utmost sincerity and without biasness against any other community, Rajendra added.
The former MHRC member also welcomed the State Government's move to develop Sana Konung.
However, he condemned the decision to shift out the King from the Palace by depriving his customary rights.
