The Palliative Care Society Imphal was formed on April 16, 2015 by a group of enthusiastic volunteers with an aim to relieve suffering and improve quality of life for patients with advanced treatment and also to treat them and their families with compassion and care.
The society strives to provide physical, psychosocial, spiritual and social needs of patients and families by a serving those who need palliative care with home visit care, free of cost, said a press release issued by secretary, PCSI.
Many kind hearted supporters have extended their helping hand to reach out to more people and provide the services.
One such big supporter is the Vignettes Band which also performed a rock show in the name of "Remembering Ronnie James Dio � 3rd Edition on September 8 at Usha Bhavan community hall, Sagolband Sayang, Imphal West.
The concert was done in honour of one of the finest voices of heavy metal, Ronnie James Dio who died in 2010 after battling stomach cancer.
The event comprised of an awareness campaign and a rock concert.
The Palliative Care Society Imphal (PCSI) is very thankful to the Vignettes Band for donating their sales to PCSI, it said.
PCSI further extended its deepest gratitude to Faith Back, Illegals, Bornfree, Detox Rock, Steel Wings, Laishram Phillip, Lucky and team, Bibid Shram, Aarkay, Rock Music Manipur, Manipur Photography Club, WOL media and Radhe Govinda Enterprise ICCR, MASS Hotels, BB & Associates and HGS & Durando Business Solutions, Mangal Infotech Endeavour, and all those who provided their valuable contributions to make the rock show a grand success and in raising funds for PCSI.
Their benevolent and compassionate act will set an example to other youth on how they can contribute for a better society by joining in this movement of providing palliative care and in minimizing the suffering of the bedridden and terminal stage patients, added the statement.
