KVK Imphal East celebrates National Nutrition Month

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal East (Andro) celebrated the National Nutrition Month (Pooshan Maah) at its conference hall on Wednesday.
It was graced by Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal; RK Banita Devi, Child Development Project Officer, Keirao Bitra Block, Imphal East and S Molibala Devi, Sr Scientist & Head I/C, KVK, Imphal East as presidium members, said a release issued by KVK.
The National Nutrition Month celebration was marked by an awareness programme, exhibition and recipe competition of nutri rich foods.
Altogether, 34 anganwadi workers and helpers from 30 centres of Andro took part in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Ph Ranjit Sharma encouraged the enthusiastic anganwadi workers for their interest and efforts.
He also stressed on the importance of biofortified varieties towards improving the health of an individual.
Delivering the keynote address, S Molibala Devi elaborated on the importance of celebrating the National Nutrition Month, nutri-sensitive agriculture for nutritional security and role of pseudo cereals and millets.
RK Banita Devi highlighted the different schemes available for the stakeholder.
Moringa tree saplings and vegetable seeds were also distributed for the establishment of a nutri garden to the participants.
