Wahong Radio inaugurated

A brand new Community Radio Station (CRS) by the name of Wahong Radio was inaugurated today at Shikhong Sekmai under Thoubal district.
The new radio channel which seeks to promote agriculture, rural livelihood and community development will broadcast various programs from 8:30 am to 1:30 am at 90.0 mega hertz.
During the inaugural ceremony, James Heigrujam, MD, Wahong Radio Station stated that the station began making broadcasts from February 4, 2024 from 8:30 am to 1:30 am.
After a successful 6 month trial, the CRS was officially established and inaugurated today, he said.
Aside from entertainment programs, Wahong Radio will broadcast many shows that will focus on children, elders, youth, health, farmers and sports among others.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Wangkhem Anand, secretary, Center for Rural Empowerment and Development Organization (CREDO); Dr Arunkumar Sharma, Director General, North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) and Dr Krishna Kumar, Technical Advisor, NECTAR.
