Imphal, February 04 2025:
Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to the well-being of local communities, the Indian Army conducted multiple medical outreach programs and awareness campaigns across the State of Manipur commemorating the World Cancer Day.
The activities were held in Kanglatongbi in Imphal West district, Shantipur in Bishnupur district and Nongdam Tangkhul in Imphal East district, benefitting hundreds of residents and students by providing essential medical services and promoting cancer awareness.
A large-scale medical camp was organized in Kanglatongbi, where a team of five Army doctors, including a medical specialist and a dentist, extended healthcare support to over 300 personnel including women and children.
Essential medical equipment such as wheelchairs, nebulizers, glucometers, steamers, walking sticks, walkers and lumbar belts were also distributed on the occasion alongwith medicines.
A medical camp was also organised in Shantipur Village of Bishnupur District, benefiting nearly 350 residents where the Army doctors carried out comprehensive health check-ups, consultations and treatment.
A dedicated medicine distribution counter ensured that patients received necessary post-consultation medication.
A special awareness session educated attendees about cancer prevention, early detection and advancements in treatment options.
Recognizing the importance of educating the younger generation, the Army also organized an awareness session at St Francis School of Assisi, Nongdam Tangkhul, Imphal East.
Around 60 students from Classes 8 to 10 participated in an interactive session that covered cancer risk factors, prevention strategies, and the significance of routine health check-ups.
Students were encouraged to become advocates for health awareness within their families and communities.
The Indian Army remains dedicated to extending healthcare services to remote and underserved areas while fostering awareness about critical health issues.
Such initiatives reinforce the Army's commitment to the welfare and well-being of the people of Manipur.
