Imphal, January 04 2014 :
In the backdrop of reports of Army authorities requesting the State Government to take back the surrendered cadres housed at several Army camps, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has appealed to all people to treat those surrendered cadres properly when they come out to lead a normal life.
According to a statement issued by Publicity Secretary of the RPF Roben Khuman, some cadres of the insurgent outfits including civilians have been lured by the Indian security forces to join the "fake surrender ceremonies" with false promises of jobs and rewards.
The security forces then abused and used them in carrying out various anti-social activities such as extortion, kidnapping, murder, planting bombs etc.
Such anti-social activities done by the surrenderees at the behest of Indian security forces are quite evident from incidents like the arrest of MDF cadres along with personnel of Assam Rifles by Manipur Police while they were trying to give extortion note to the RIMS authorities, and also the attempt of Major Anand Kanti of 22-Assam Rifles to rescue the arrested General Secretary of UTLA (Thadou faction) from Jiribam Police Station last year.
Moreover, the statement of Thoudam Umakanta of Khurai Thoudam Leikai, who is the custody of the RPF/PLA, clearly revealed all clandestine operations/activities conducted by the Indian forces with the help of those surrendered cadres, the RPF said.
The Indian Army's request to the State Government to take back the surrenderees from their camps shows their utter despair.
All their hidden activities and agendas of "surrender drama" are now exposed and they are left with no choice but to abandon the surrenderees, it noted.
The outfit further appealed to all people to render utmost support to those surrendered cadres when they come out to lead a normal life.
There have been instances of ill-treatment of those surrenderees by State agencies.
They are made to do odd jobs at Manipur Rifles camps, and also they are deprived of proper rehabilitation facilities and packages as assured by the Government.
The surrendered cadres, who have been abandoned by the Indian Army, should never indulge in anti-social activities.
They should come out openly and lead a normal life with family and friends, the RPF added.
