Imphal, July 03 2013:
A number of Tangkhul frontal organisations including the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) and Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) have demanded the immediate transfer of the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district, R Sudhan on or before July 10 failing which intense agitation would be launched.
Levelling a number of charges against the DC, the Tangkhul frontal organisations in a statement issued to the press today alleged that administration in Ukhrul district has failed on all fronts for years.
Recalling the killing of two hunters at Kongkan village by the proscribed UNLFr the molest of a young girl at Napetpalli, the accidental death of SSA staff inside the minisecretariat, partying inside the mini-secretariat and transit camp compound, sale and consumption of drugs and alcohol as well as the irregularity of the officer at his place of posting, the organisations questioned whether R Sudhan is posted at Imphal East or Imphal West.
The organisations further questioned, how could the district administrator attend office only one or two days in a week.
Going on the offensive, the organisations alleged that the DC is not interested co-operating with any of the social organisations and accused him of playing the divide and rule game.
Coming down hard on the arrest of some VDF personnel at the alleged instruction of the DC, the organisations that the VDFs who were on sentry duty at the mini-secretariat tried some SDOs from partying with some girls at the minisecretariat.
The VDFs intervened only when the party stretched on for too long, said the organisations and added that instead of chastising the junior officers, the VDF personnel were penalised and arrested.
The organisations further alleged that teachers under the ZEO and ADC have been utilised as SSA staff without any replacements, which has adversely affected the students.
The DC was also accused of deducting certain percentages from the BADP schemes and from agencies putting up sign boards.
Reiterating the demand to transfer the said officer on or before July 10, the organisations said that if their demand goes unheeded then they would be compelled to launch a series of agitation until the demand is fulfilled.
