CADA seizes liquor

As part of its effort to exterminate all forms of drugs and substance abuse from the State, volunteers of Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) Imphal West District Committee conducted a surprise drive at Lamphel Shija Hospital road near Home Guard Quarter on April 30 and seized 90 litres of DIC (Distilled Indigenous Country) liquor from a hotel.
The liquor were seized from one Konsam Panchmani, w/o K Thoibi, of Lamphel.
The liquor were burned, said a statement of CADA.
Meanwhile, CADA has urged authority concerned to take up neccesary legal action against the persons involve in brewing of labelled liqour such as "Sekmai" and "Phayeng" for violating Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act 1991 .
Cointinuing its academic awareness programmes, CADA conducted campaign on "effect of drugs and substance abuse on students" at Ching-Tam High School, Salungpham, Thoubal district on April 27 .
Ningthoujam Khomdon, Head Master Ching-Tam High School, Hijam Priyokumar, president CADA and Ningthoujam Doren, vice president CADA attennded the programme as dignitaries, said another statement of the organisation.
