Imphal, November 02 2013 : Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali festival, 2013 to be celebrated tomorrow and prayed that the celebration of the festival, also known as 'festival of light' heralds peace, prosperity, understanding and harmony in the State.

In his message, Dr Ashwani observed that Diwali is celebrated across the country to mark the victory of good over evil.

It also commemorates the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after his triumph over Ravana.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said that Diwali symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, of virtue over vice and of light over darkness.

"As the light dispels darkness, may the light that we celebrate at Diwali, dispelling all the dark forces of mistrust and enmity, show us the way and lead us together on the path of pace and social harmony for a brighter and prosperous Manipur", the Chief Minister said in his greeting to the people.
