Dyem lives with his parents, a younger brother and his grandmother in a humble house with insufficient rooms.
His mother Purnima is the only person who earns some income in the family.
Purnima has been encouraging her children in their studies.
She has been an ideal mother to her sons advising them not to be bothered about family matters and to concentrate in their studies.
In an exclusive meeting at his residence today, Dyem asserted that he worked hard with an aim to overcome poverty.
"When my parents quarrel over money matters, I just keep quite and concentrate on my studies.
My only aim is to succeed in life and make my mother happy someday and make my family have a status in society", he expressed.
He gave credit for his success to his mother, his teachers and more importantly to the Principal of Herbert School, Dr K Nabachandra of Sagolband for his support during the class XI and XII sessions since the principal let him study without paying admission fees and bus service fees.
"The principal knew about my family condition and he was aware of my desire to study in the school.
He is no less than a God to me and my family" he said.
Speaking about his future plans he admitted that he wants to be an engineer and will work hard to achieve his goal.
"If a student works hard with a challenge in life then success is sure to come and that is exactly what happened to me," he added.
He said that interacting with different people and travelling are his hobbies.
When asked about his achievements as a student, he said that he had participated in many quiz competitions and won several cash prizes and certificates.
Mention may be made that Dyem appeared in the All India Engineering Entrance Exams (AIEEE) on May 1, 2011 and he is eagerly waiting for the results and he is appearing for the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) to be conducted by the state government on June 12, 2011 .
Although he hails from a poor family unlike other such students who lose hope, he challenges to overcome all odds.
Dyem is an ideal student and many students will be inspired by his hard work and achievements.
His mother Purnima who left no stone unturned to support and educate her children has become a role model.
"Every student can achieve success in life if he or she is industrious and hardworking " is the only message Dyem wants to convey to students who are born and brought up in a poor family.
