State BJP Unit deplores Ukhrul firing incident

Bharatiya Janata Party, Manipur Pradesh deplored the violence unleashed during the public rally taken out at Ukhrul town on August 30 which resulted in the killing of two civilians by the state force.
The BJP stated that it strongly condemned the barbaric acts of the Manipur state police who resorted to firing upon the rallyists during the United Naga Council (UNC) sponsored peace rally thereby killing two civilians and injuring many others.
While condemning the incident, the BJP stated that it is against the use of force against civilian agitation even though the party is clearly aware of the government of Manipur's concern to maintain law and order in the state.
Advising the people on knowing the circumstances leading to the incident and the cause of death of the two persons and as well as the injured lot, the BJP placed certain demands before the state government which included a judicial inquiry regarding the incident to reveal the truth and circumstances leading to the firing incident killing two civilians and injuring many, fixing the responsibility of the firing incident and giving penalties to the wrong doers.
The party then urged the government of Manipur to initiate a process of negotiated settlement so that tension existing in Ukhrul town could be eased.
It then appealed to the people of Ukhrul town to calm down so that peace and harmony can be restored in the district.
