Second Meetei MLA in Assam remembered

Imphal, June 01 2014: Laishram Mera Chaoba, the second Meetei MLA in Assam was fondly remembered today at a function held at the Conference hall of Jagannath Singh College, Udharbond in Cachar district of Assam.

Dr..HNani Kumar Singh, Professor of Manipuri Department, Assam University and renowned short story writer Moirangjem Dev (Subram) graced the function as the chief guest and the special guest of the commemoration function organised by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam Udharbond Branch, Cachar.

Noted writer Kabrabam Nilkanta presided over the function, while Assistant Professor Dr.Haorongbam Rajmani of Manipuri department, Assam University, Seram Pakachand, Asem Mani and Seram Rajendra (Nritya Guru) attended as guests of honour.

A book entitled 'Sri Sri Jagannath ki Masaigonda' written by Kabrabam Nilakanta was also released during the function.

As part of the observance, Anita Singh, Asst.

Professor of Manipuri Department, Jagannath Singh College and Khundrakpam Aruna Singh, vice-principal of Sisu Sadan Udhabond presented papers on the topics - "Sri Laishram Mera Chaoba gi punshi amasung thabak" and "Mera Chaoba gi matamgi samaj amasung rajnitigi phibham" respectively during the evening session which was moderated by Dr..HNani Kumar Singh.
