Implementation of 25% MGNREGS by ADCs opposed

Imphal, June 01 2013 : Chandel Naga People's Organisation (NCPO) and the Naga Chiefs' Association, Chandel (NCAC) have strongly opposed to implementation of 25% MGNREGS by Members of Autonomous District Councils.

In a release, Ws Angthung Anal, President of NCAC said that the Governor's order dated 5th November 2012 which states that more than 25% of the NREGS shall be earmarked for proposal and implementation of MGNREGS by the members of Autonomous District Council is not acceptable to the organisation in particular and the people of Chandel is general.

Terming the ADC members as null and void, the two apex bodies of Chandel district, have asserted that they would not accept or compromise with ADC members as they have already been declared as null and void by United Naga Council.

CNPO and NCAC have also appealed the Government of Manipur to review the order.
