Discussion seeks plebiscite

Another public discussion on 'Public Participation in bringing solution to Manipur-India conflict' was held today at Yairipok Khoirom Leikai in Thoubal district.
At the concluding part of the discussion, a resolution to hold plebiscite to end armed conflict in the state was taken.
The public discussion is a part of series of the meeting organised by the various civil societies and today's was hosted by the Khoirom Nupi Marup.
In Manipur civil societies are holding such series since the arrest of UNFL chairman, RK Meghen, who is insisting the Centre for plebiscite in Manipur, by NIA.
Kangjam Thasana Leima, president Thoubal District United Women Development Committee, Konsam Juboti, a retired headmaster, Wairakpam Naba, former Leirongthel Ningol Gram Panchayat, Keisham Aiso and Mutum Rasgumani, seating members of Khoirom Gram Panchayat were in the podium of the discussion.
Speakers said that the people of the state are facing lots of trouble and hardship due to the present Manipur-India conflict.
Plebiscite is the only peaceful political solution to the present conflict faced by the people from state and non state actors.
They said that Manipur has been facing oppression for more than five decades.
People of the state should stand united for a peaceful political solution to the present conflict.
Holding a plebiscite under the direct supervision of the United Nations is the only peaceful solution to the conflict, he insisted.
