November becomes deadliest Covid month

The daily test positivity rate remains below 2 per cent as Tuesday reported two death cases and 36 new positive cases out of 2112 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus registering a positivity rate of 1.7 per cent against Monday's 1.4 per cent.
Meanwhile, November has become the deadliest month with 56 death cases out of 1474 new cases recorded with 3.8 per cent case fatality rate.
In terms of actual fatality count, July 2021 recorded highest death cases at 406 but the case fatality rate was only 1.41 per cent.
May 2021 recorded 402 death cases with a case fatality rate of 2.13 per cent.
The monthly case fatality rates in the first wave of the pandemic were 0.36 per cent in July, 0.63 per cent in August, 0.85 per cent in September, 1.33 per cent in October, 1.73 per cent in November, 2.35 per cent in December, 1.82 per cent January, 0.98 per cent in February, and 0.79 per cent in March.
The CFR during the second wave were 1.26 per cent in April, 2.13 per cent in May, 1.80 per cent in June, 1.41 per cent in July, 1.46 per cent in August, 1.10 per cent in September, 2.10 per cent in October, and 3.80 per cent in November.
The two death cases reported on Tuesday were unvaccinated residents of Imphal West district.
With this, the total number of fatalities from Covid-19 in the state now stands at 1977.The active caseload came down to 649 out of which only 51 (7.86 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availability in different hospitals and Covid care facilities.
Out of the 16 districts, nine reported fresh Covid cases on Tuesday with Imphal West seeing highest cases at 15.In terms of positivity rate, Kakching district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 3.2 per cent while Bishnupur district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.7 per cent.
Jiribam, Kamjong, Pherzawl, Senapati, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul districts did not report any new positive cases.
So far, the state has recorded 95,805 positive cases and 1603 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month reported 1474 new positive cases and 56 death cases out of which 198 new cases and 14 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, 35 people (21 male & 14 female) out of the 36 new positive cases are from among the general population and one from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (3), JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (30) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (9), Imphal West (14), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (2), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (3), Kangpokpi (1) and Noney (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 40 patients were discharged from home isolation (4), RIMS (6), JNIMS (7) and CCCs (23) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,205 (general population - 1,20,774 and CAPF personnel - 4,431).Number of recovered cases is 1,22,579 (general population - 1,18,217 and CAPF personnel - 4,362) and number of active cases is 649 (general population - 585 and CAPF personnel - 64).The recovery rate is 97.90 per cent.
A total of 385 D-type and 50 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 7594 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 12,80,974 including 8,69,909 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,865), Imphal East (27,788), Thoubal (9477), Churachandpur (10,182), Kangpokpi (2787), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9201), Senapati (2241), Ukhrul (2994), Kakching (6438), Chandel (2356), Money (1074), Tengnoupal (1077), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (662), Imphal East (471), Thoubal (177), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (192), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (113), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,350 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,721 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,57,251 tests per million population against the national average of 4,58,361 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours,' only 2112 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 1.70 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.82 per cent.
