Imphal, August 31 2011:
The Zeliangrong Union (AMN) has strongly opposed the demand of the Kuki's demand for creating a district in Sadar-Hill and submitted a memorandum to the CM in the regard.
In a representation to the CM signed by K Poushinglung, General Secretary and Amu Kamei, President of ZU (AMN), the ZU (AMN) said that the Zeliangrong Nagas have always been against conceding Naga's land for Kuki political interests which include their aspiration for a Kuki home-land and state.
Besides, this Kuki demand will also affect the interest of the Meiteis and the territorial integrity of Manipur itself.
The Zeliangrong Union also reiterated its demand seeking restoration of the different parts of Sadar areas to their respective parent districts of Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Senapati.
This will be the right and lasting solution for the controversial Sadar-Hills issue.
The Nagas can live peacefully with the Kukis, Nepalis and other communities in the said areas, but we cannot tolerate the politics of conversion of our lands into a Kuki district or Kukiland.
