Imphal, March 31 2012: Liangmei Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR) has resolved that no outsiders should conduct research or take up project on Liangmei language without its prior consent.

Objecting to the interview conducted by Tribal Research Institute on March 24 for selection of research project on "Studies on development of tribal languages (grammar and culture of Liangmei tribe) allegedly in favour of non-Liangmei scholars who do not know Liangmei language at all, President of the student body Majibuibo pointed out that eligible Liangmei candidates who have qualified M Phil and Ph D on the topics concerned have faced the interview but none of them have been selected.

The selection was done purely on the basis of lobby by some people, Majibuibo alleged, and demanded the government or the screening committee to cancel the project or call another interview.

Otherwise, the government should be held responsible for any eventualities, he warned.
