The dead of two workers in alleged cross firing between UGs ensuing suspension of operation with the government has angered the working class people of the state, provoking them to undergo a mass sit-in-protest in the heart of Khwairamband Keithel, Imphal.
After, various union of workers' community as well as armed group the Maoist Communist Party Manipur has warned serious consequences to all sections involved in the torturing and killing of workers for ransom, three civil bodies � KEDO, Workers' Union, Manipur and LOUSAL today staged a sit-in-protest at Kwairambandh Keithel Samu Makhong, demanding immediate action to protect the worker community of the state.

Vice President of Workers' Union, Manipur, Dr.Laishram Joyprakash Singh, while speaking to media persons demanded the state government to open a special cell of the state police force to deal with cases related to abduction of workers, government employees for ransom by armed militants.
He expressed dissatisfaction to the silence of most civil society organizations in any cases of workers being abducted or killed for ransoms by armed militants.
"When someone belonging to students, government employees or any members of civil society body were killed abducted then series of protest followed but when a worker is killed or kidnapped no groups or civil society bodies came out for protest or even condemnation", Joyprakash Singh said.
He appealed the civil society organizations of the state not to remain silent this time, and assured all sort of support to any movement initiated by the JAC formed against the killing of the two labourers at Moulsohoi village in Ukhrul district on January 28 .
