10 cases detected, death rate highest in Dec

Imphal, December 31 2021:
On the last day of the year 2021, which was marked by lockdowns and high impact of Covid-19 second wave, the state on Friday recorded 10 new positive cases out of 1089 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 0.92 per cent as compared to 1.36 per cent reported on Thursday.
For the fourth consecutive day, Friday also reported zero Covid death and the fatality tally stands at 2002 .
However, December recorded highest monthly fatality rate of 4.29 per cent by recording 25 deaths out of 583 positive cases.
November recorded 3.8 per cent monthly fatality rate, which is the second highest.
Only one person was from a CCC in.the last 24 hours as the active caseload rose to 199 out of which 21 (10.55 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availability in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only three reported fresh Covid cases on Friday.
So far, the state has recorded 96,388 positive cases and 1628 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 583 new positive cases and 25 fatalities out of which 95 new cases and 2 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 10 fresh cases (4 male & 6 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at RIMS (1), JNIMS (1) and other testing centres (8).The positive cases are from Imphal East (4), Imphal West (5) and Churachandpur (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,788 (generalpopulation -1,21,348 and CAPF personnel - 4,440) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,587 (general population - 1,19,159 and CAPF personnel - 4,428) and number of active cases is 199 (general population - 192 and CAPF personnel - 7) .
The recovery rate is 98.25 per cent.
A total of 600 D-type and 130 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 3723 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,24,528 out of which 9,89,548 have been fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,157), Imphal East (27,954), Thoubal (9496), Churachandpur (10,194), Kangpokpi (2793), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9240), Senapati (2249), Ukhrul (3000), Kakching (6452), Chandel (2367), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1078), Jiribam (1029), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (672), Imphal East (479), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (194), Senapati (10), Ukhrul 44), Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,538 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,880 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,70,830 tests per million population against the national average of 4,84,104 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1089 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 0.92 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.61 per cent.
