Nupi Lan observation concludes

The three months-long observation of Nupi LanNingshing Thouram, organised by 1st Nupi Lan Memorial Observation Committee (NLMOC) Imphal, concluded at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU), Yaiskul police lane today.
Speaking on the occasion, 1st NLMOC secretary N Sakhi said that the committee launched the three-months long observation of "Ahanba Nupi Lan 1904" at Manipur Press Club on October 2 this year.
Conveying the reason for organising the first Nupi Lan 1904, she said that it is the responsibility of the present generation to remember and pay tribute to those brave mothers who fought the British empire and its unfair activities bravely.
She said the incidents occurred between September and November of 1904 should be remembered vividly.
The torture and malpractices taken upon the women of Manipur, at that time, will not be forgotten in the years to come, she added.
The time has come for all to deliberate the history and the bravery of the State's women and how they came forward to fight for a greater cause.
Later, a theatre play on Ahanba Nupi Lan 1904 was presented by Achiba Theatre Association.
Thoubal/Lilong Municipal Council ward no 2 Councillor Advocate Ajmal Nisa graced the event as chief guest while ROB Imphal, Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, GoI Guruaribam Ghanapriya, Dy Director H & SC, Kangpokpi Kh Sayakiran, 1 st Nupi Lan Memorial Observation Committee Imphal president Moirangthem Sorojini and National secretary general Legal ad Justice Cell IHRA LM Sana as other dignitaries.
Meanwhile, the 79th Nupilal celebration month organised by Nupilal Memorial Association for a month wrapped up today at Nupeelal complex today.
Foral tributes were paid to the fearless mothers of Nupi Lan while a balloon was let free to mark the culmination of the event.

Steering Committee secretary publicity Peter Longjam appealed not to include Nupi Lan theatre play written by other authors other than Longjamba Meetei Netaji (recognised by the Government) during Nupi Lan celebration in the future.
The event was attended by leaders and members of different branches of Nupilal Memorial Association Manipur.
