Imphal, August 30 2015 :
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) on Sunday stated that it has been obstinately standing against all elements that attempt to harm the territorial boundary of Manipur since the past 47 years.
An AMSU press statement also said the union is taking part in the ongoing mass movement demanding the introduction of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) to safeguard the interests of the indigenous people.
The union's statement declared that the alleged attempt by the Government of India and NSCN (IM) to disintegrate the State on the pretext of peace process will not succeed and that AMSU will always stand against such policies tooth and nail.
AMSU recounted that the then Nagaland Chief Minister TN Angami supported the plan for integrating all Naga-dominated areas of Manipur into Nagaland.
Opposing the demand, AMSU sent a memorandum to the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on January 4, 1968 and responding to the representation, the then PMO informed the union that necessary instructions had been given to the Ministry of Home Affairs to take action over the matter, the statement infomred.
After 47 years, Manipur is facing a new big challenge with regard to its territorial integrity, AMSU said and pledged that the union is all prepared to counter the threat with the help of the people.
