TG rape case: Women thrash accused Tarun, William at Court Complex

A large number of angry women stormed the Court Complex and thrashed the accused duo Tarun and William of the infamous TG rape case with sandals and water bottles while they were being brought out from the Court of Sessions Judge, Manipur East here today.
Tarun and William were presented before the court in the morning.
A group of protesting women who were already present in the court complex accosted the two rape accused being escorted by large number of police personnel and hit with sandals in the faces even as the police tried to evade the situation.
In the case, the statements of 20 prosecution witnesses have been recorded so far.
The witnesses included the victim's mother, her aunt, doctors who conducted medical examination, forensic experts and Investigative Officers of the case.
Sessions Judge, Manipur East A Guneshwar Sharma has closed recording of statements of prosecution witnesses today.
The statements of the accused would be recorded in the next hearing scheduled on August 14 .
Talking to media persons after the hearing, Special Public Prosecutor Ng Tejkumar said that the police submitted the charge-sheet of the case in December last year and it was taken up by Sessions Judge, Manipur East on February 25 this year.
The hearing of the case began from March 12 last, he noted.
The case is proceeding in full swing and it would be completed within a short time as the recording of prosecution witnesses has been completed, Tejkumar stated.
