Death anniversary of freedom fighter Ima Rajani held

Imphal, January 30 2017: The 27th death anniversary of freedom fighter and Tamra Patra awardee Ima Rajani was observed alongside the prize distribution programme of the 9th State level Nupi Lan memorial patriotic song and quiz competition at Nupi Lan Memorial Complex today.

Speaking at the programme as the chief guest, Khaidem Mani, senior Advocate said that Nupi Lan 1939 is known all over the world for the courage of Manipuri women.

Among these strong and courageous women, Ima Rajani was one of them.

Ima Rajani was conferred with Tamra Patra Award for her sacrifice and contribution.

He added, "It is high time to recall what our forefathers had done and taught for the betterment of the younger generations and think what society has become now and what can happen as a result of the present situation" .

When we realise the sacrifices of our past leaders, spirit of unity and courage in us can be rediscovered which in turn can play pivotal role in restoring love, unity and peace in the State, Khaidem Mani added.

As part of the programme, floral tribute was also paid to Ima Rajani.
