MHHDCL encourages people to buy local products on Ningol Chakkouba

Imphal, October 29 2024: Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd Chairman MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha has appealed to the people of the State to buy and gift local products on Ningol Chakkouba (November 3) .

Speaking at the Corporation's office at Paona Keithel, the MLA urged public to shun extravagant spending on gifts and avoid buying products brought in from outside the State to help local traders, weavers and craftsmen.

"When people buy products of outside origin, the money goes outside the State.

If we buy products made here, the money will go to the hands of the local traders, weavers and craftsmen.

This will also help improve the State's economy," he said.

The MLA further informed that the Corporation has procured a wide range of products made by displaced people in relief camps, and these items are being made available to people.

The items procured from the displaced people have been packed into combo gift packs.

People can buy these items and present them as gifts to family members on Ningol Chakkouba, he said.

Buying the gift packs from the outlets of the Corporation will directly help the displaced people earn some income, he added.

The products are available at the Corporation's office and at Panthobi arcade at Wangkhei.

The MLA greeted and wished for the people to celebrate Ningol Chakkouba in its true essence and preserve the tradition in its truest form.
