ZUF hails Jadonang on death anniv

The chairman of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) extended deepest homage to Haipou Jadonang on the occasion of the 88th Martyrdom observance.
Conveying greetings to all cadres of ZUF, the chairman stated that Haipou was the path finder and one of the tallest revolutionary leaders of his time when the global movement against British imperialism began and added that Haipou Jadonang represented the North East in the Indian independence movement via the Naga Raj Movement.
Acknowledging the solidarity and message of homage extended by the civil society bodies, CorCom, the State Government agencies, on the occasion of the observance of 88th Haipou Jadonang Martyrdom today, it reasoned that the wisdom and homage to the pioneering freedom fighter, will enhance the strength of solidarity and patriotic zeal perpetually.
Haipou Jadonang was executed by the Britishers on August 29, 1931, to consolidate the position of the colonial rule over the indigenous peoples of Zeliangrongs, North East India and the world.
India and Asia as a whole were subjected to the colonial power of the British crown, it added.
Haipou Jadonang is a leader of anti colonial movement for one fourth of the world, representing Asia and at the same time a freedom fighter of Zeliangrong, Nagas, North East India, it conveyed adding that he was one among the few revolutionary leaders of India and Asia when many Nations fought for independence from the British control.
Jadonang's message spread like wild fire across the breadth and length of Zeliangrong country and beyond and his socio, religious, cultural and political movement recorded as Naga Raj Movement by historians was so effective that the British authorities were unnerved, it claimed.
It continued that Haipou Jadonang later shifted his policy to non violence and non-cooperation movement following his meeting with Mahatama Gandhi in Pandu, Assam in 1926.His disciples were opposed to his new found theory but he pushed through and Jawaharlal Nehru acknowledged the Naga Raj Movement as inspiring to millions of Indians, it mentioned adding that Rani Gaidinliu succeeded the Naga Raj Movement soon after the hanging of Haipou Jadonang by the Britishers in 1931.It then appealed to all the Zeliangrong people to rally around the footsteps of the patriots to reclaim lost glory and to acquire a common homeland and statehood.
