AR celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas

As part of the weeklong commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, many Battalions and Sectors under IGAR (South) organized various events across Manipur.
The major activities of the celebration includes Kargil Victory Run, weapon and equipment display for the youth, band display, graffiti boards to convey message for martyrs, motivational lectures and paying homage to the martyrs of the Kargil War, said a statement of IGAR (S) .
Keithelmanbi Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles organized a wreath laying ceremony at Keithelmanbi garrison on July 26 .
The solemn ceremony commenced with wreath laying by Brig Amit Kabthiyal, SM, Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles and paying a homage to the brave hearts who made the supreme sacrifice during Operation Vijay, it added.
It also said that the weeklong activities concluded with a Kargil Victory Run, which was held on July 27, in which all ranks, families and children of the Keithelmanbi garrison participated and prizes were distributed to the winners to encourage them.
Assam Rifles Public School, Keithelmanbi also conducted various events like painting competition, motivational talk, screening of motivational videos, display of weapons and equipment etc were organised as part of the observing of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Chandel Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas paid homage to the Kargil war hero Lance Naik S Girneithang Aimol of 2 NAGA Regiment of Indian Army who laid down his life on Jul 7, 1999 during the Battle of Tiger Hill, it said and added that a wreath laying ceremony was organised at the memorial of soldier at his native village Aimol Satu to commemorate 20th year of victory of Kargil War.
The ceremony was attended by the family members of soldier, villagers and veterans.
Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles also organised a motivational lecture for the students of Rayburn High School as part of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
A documentary on Kargil War was also screened during the event, it added.
Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector under IGAR (South) also celebrated Kargil Vijay diwas at Haolenphai Village.
The local students of Haolenphai Village, T Minou Village, TV Gamnomphai Village and H Munnom Village attended the screening of the documentary on Kargil war.
