Manipurtimes Shopping opens new supermarket at Khurai

Manipurtimes Shopping has opened its new supermarket at Khurai Sajor Leikai, Lamlong Bazar, Imphal East where an array of local products will be made available.
Lourembam Bikram (IAS), Director, Trade, Commerce & Industries, Govt of Manipur opened the new supermarket by cutting a ribbon.
Thangjam Joykumar Singh, managing director, Thangjam Agro Industries Pvt Ltd (Likla); Hanjabam Shubhra Devi, proprietor, Meira Foods (Meira); Thangjam Rakesh, managing director, Kangleipak Spices Industry (Machal) and Manipurtimes director Yumkham Bireshchandra Singh also attended the inaugural ceremony.
While interacting with the media, Yumkham Bireshchandra Singh stressed the importance of promoting local products and branding them.
"With the concept of branding made in Manipur products in the most visible way at the first room of the supermarket, Manipurtimes Shopping attempts to showcase local products more visibly and popularly among the general public of Manipur," he added.
Having covered over 500 stories about the people of Manipur in the field of entrepreneurship and others, Manipurtimes ventured into the shopping business in 2016 to promote locally made products, the director continued.
Manipurtimes Shopping was initiated on October 30, 2016, he said.
He continued that the challenges in the initial stage were quite tough as they could hardly make a sale of Rs 20000 per month even after a lapse of 5 months of operation.
Manipurtimes Shopping desires to open up more supermarkets at different locations of Imphal and beyond shortly, Bireshchandra added.
Lourembam Bikram elaborated about the Government initiatives to promote the entrepreneurship movement in Manipur.
He also encouraged the opening of more such supermarkets in every district headquarters in the State.
