Awareness prog on 'Drug Abuse Prevention for Transgender Community' held

Bishnupur, October 26 2019: With the objective to curb the menace of drug abuse by the transgenders, a one day awareness programme on "Drug Abuse Prevention for Transgender Community" jointly organized by Dostanasafar, Bihar and Maruploi Foundation, Bishnupur under the aegis of National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Juctice and Empowerment, GoI was held at Bishnupur Municipality Conference Hall today.

The programme was attended by SDPO Bishnupur Laxmi Thingbaijam, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Bishnupur N Bino and District Social Welfare Officer N Jotish as presidium members.

About 100 transgenders participated in the awareness programme while Kakchingtabam Sanamacha spoke on "Basics of Drug Abuse (Drugs and Types of Drugs)" and "Reasons for taking drugs" as resource person.
