Awareness programme on 'Agricultural Marketing' starts

Imphal, September 26 2019:
A 3 day awareness programme on "Agricultural Marketing", jointly organised by Manipur Small Farmers Agri-business Consortium (MSFAC) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal under the aegis of National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM), began today at the campus of Indian Council of Agricultural Research-North Eastern Hills Region (ICAR-NEHR), Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat.
Speaking at the event, NIAM, Jaipur, Deputy Director, Dr SR Singh said that the subject "Agriculture Marketing" deals with different affairs related to agricultural activities like transportation, road and infrastructure, food safety, grading, packaging & labelling, food processing, post harvesting management etc.
Stating that the vision of Indian Government to double farmers income by 2022 will be hard to achieve without proper knowledge of agriculture marketing, he added that the programme is being organised to impart the required knowledge to the farmers to improve their living standard.
Scientists and experts from ICAR, CAU and KVK will speak on different topics during the 3 day programme.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by ICAR-NEHR, Manipur Centre, Joint Director, Dr Narendra Prakash; MSFAC, Project Coordinator, MS Khaidem; ICAR-NEHR, Principal Scientist, Dr I Meghachandra and KVK, Imphal West, Senior Scientist and Head, Dr Kh Hera as the presidium members.
Board of Director of different Farmer Producer Companies (FPOs) also attended the programme.
