FCI Deputy General Manager released on bail

FCI Deputy General Manager (DGM) Shanglai James (59) s/o (L) Manichand of Riha village (presently staying at Mantripukri Bengali colony), who was arrested after he reportedly took out a small arm and fired at some members of a workers association (allegedly injuring a female member), was released on bail by Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today on PR bond of Rs 1 lakh along with two surety.
Today, James was produced before the Court following the completion of his 4 days police custody remand under City PS, along with a prayer for remanding him to judicial custody.
On the other hand, his defense counsel filed a remand objection along with a prayer for releasing him on bail.
During the hearing, the IO of the case (through the APP) submitted that on October 21, one Hijam Kavita of Naoremthong Shamushang filed a complaint to the OC of City PS stating that on the same day, she along with six workers of the CAF and PD Labourer's Welfare Association Manipur, went to the office of the DGM ( R) Food Corporation of India, located at Old Assembly road complex, Imphal, to submit a memorandum.
The accused allegedly shouted at the workers and suddenly took out a small arm and fired directly at the complainant from very close range thus causing injury to the complainant, the IO explained adding that as such, the accused DGM was taken into police custody.
The IO also prayed for remanding the DGM to judicial custody for further investigation.
After going through the records and hearing the submission of both sides, the Court released James on bail after furnishing a PR bond of Rs 1 lakh, along with two surety of the same amount.
