4th Chinzak Fest begins with regional flavour & taste

Along with offering a wide range of regional flavour and taste to tantalise the palate of any foodie, the 4th Chinzak Festival (Festival of Foods), 2013 has begun from today at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound here.
The festival is being organised jointly by Innovative Youth Society and BOSS JUICES.
Unlike in previous editions of the festival during which visitors were drawn to the International food stalls set up by participants coming from China, Thailand and Korea, etc, this time regional is the word, both in flavour and taste.
Along side the food stalls of various indigenous communities living in Manipur, tribes from Nagaland like Konyak, Ao, Sema, Lotha, etc as well as Karbi Anglong, Assam and Khasi, Meghalaya are participating in the festival this time, to give a whole new experience and taste in foods from the northeast region to the visitors.

In all, 40 food stalls have been set up in the festival this time.
Besides, there are two stalls selling and displaying handloom and handicraft products for any one who want to take home souvenirs and mementos of their visit to the Chinzak festival.
For those who would like to get a taste of indigenous fishes like Khabak, Ngaton and Pengba, it is said that the festival would also provide opportunities for ordering these indigenous fishes.
The 4th edition of the unique food festival commenced with Chief Guest of the inaugural function, MLA of Keishamthong Assembly Constituency L Ibomcha lighting and lifting the lantern of Mera month.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Ibomcha stressed on the need for preserving and protecting the indigenous food items and cloths before being patented by any one.
Presided over by Director of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur Dr K Sobita, the inaugural function of the food festival was also attended by Co-ordinator of Entrepreneurs' Association, Kohima Neichute Doulo and IAS officer KK Chhetry as Guests of Honour.
