AR exemplifies spirit of Ramzan festival

In the spirit of Ramadan, the holy month of worship, forgiveness, generosity and sharing, the 28 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 9 Sector Assam Rifles organised an Iftar party at Lilong Post.
The Iftar party received a huge crowd and proved to be a source of happiness and pleasure for all the attendees.
Invitees from varied walks of life joined Muslim brethren in breaking the Ramadan fast.
Col Sanjeev Kumar, Comdt 28 Assam Rifles welcomed the guests into the portals of 28 Assam Rifles Lilong Post.
The Iftaar get-together began with a short recital of verses from the Quran by Kazi Qari Rafique.
Delicacies specially prepared for the occasion were served during the Iftar party.
Later, Muslims offered 'maghrib' prayers and prayed for the well-being of the country and solidarity.
Speaking on the occasion, Col Sanjeev Kumar said the idea of purification and austerity behind the fasting ritual is beyond the folds of Islam.
In fact, the focus on core values, noble thoughts and goodwill during the Ramadan month are beyond the religious and the spiritual practices and extended to the idea of universal solidarity and good relationships based on peace.
Among the dignitaries present were MLA Radha Vinod Koija, Chairperson Shah Alam, Jila Parishad Faisal Maerobi, Councillors of various wards of the Lilong constituency.
The attendees were enthusiastic and appreciated the efforts of 28 Assam Rifles.
