Workshop / production on 'Nitya Raas' concludes

The month-long workshop cum production on 'Nitya Raas' organised by Centre for Social and Culture Development (CSCD) under the support of Ministry of Culture at Oinam Thingel community hall concluded on Monday.
In her speech at the valedictory function, CSCD secretary Oinam Ranjita noted that the five different Raas Leela namely Basanta Raas, Maha Raas, Nitya Raas, Kunja Raas and Diba
Raas, which bring pride to the state, are waning in popularity.
Manipur, which once had rich art and culture, is now regressing and the present generation seems unaware about Raas festival.
As such, the main objective of the workshop is to preserve the different Raas, she added.
The function was also attended by IMC ex-mayor L Lokeshwar, Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Ph Iboton.
A Nitya Raas was performed by artistes of CSCD Manipur as a part of the valedictory programme.
