'Tamenglong' reaches Somalia

Imphal, November 24 2018:
'Tamenglong', the female Amur Falcon which was tagged with a satellite radio transmitter has crossed the Arabian sea and reached Somalia today.
The Amur Falcon reached the Federal Republic of Somalia, a sovereign State with its territory located in the Horn of Africa, at around 1 pm Indian Standard Time.
The falcon's journey to the Somalia was conveyed by Wild Life Institute of India scientist Dr R Sureshkumar.
It may be mentioned that one male Amur Falcon named 'Manipur' and 'Tamenglong' were tagged with satellite radio transmitters on November 5 .
However, 'Manipur' did not survived as it was killed on November 9 at Khebuching area.
'Tamenglong' is expected stay three months in Africa before heading for China, Russia and Mongolia etc.
