Imphal, October 24 2019:
North East India Development Party (NEIDP) has warned against any changes to the boundary of the State or its administrative setup as a result of the Naga peace talks.
Speaking to media persons at the party office at Sagolband Tera Bazaar today, its Manipur State president Dr Ng Bijoy said that NEIDP warmly welcomes a definite solution to the long running issue of the Naga political crisis.
However, none of the solution should involve an impact on the boundary or administrative setup of Manipur, he cautioned, adding that the stakeholders and people of the State should be consulted before taking any major decision.
NEIDP will always stand with the people, he added.
On the other hand, the party vice president RK Anand said that the situation is very tense in Manipur right now and reminded that the June 18 incident of 2001 occurred due to threat to the integrity of the State.
It was claimed that the cease fire would not be extended to Manipur but the end result turned out in stark contrast which led to the June 18 incident, he said, adding that the suspicious lack of any transparency as to whether the Indo-Naga peace talk will affect the integrity or administrative setup of the State, has led to rising apprehension in the minds of the people.
