House condoles Kh Amutombi

Obituary references were made on the passing away of former Deputy Chief Minister Khumujam Amutombi Singh during the session of Manipur Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
The House also observed a two-minute silence as mark of respect to Aumutombi who passed away at his residence in Mayang Imphal Konchak in Imphal West at 7:30 pm yesterday.
He was 81 .
MLAs Dr I Ibohalbi, L Ibomcha, Kh Joykishan, Th Shyamkumar, L Dikho, Ng Dr Bijoy, K Shyam, P Brojen, IFCD minister I Hemochandra and Speaker L Lokeshwar made obituary references in the House on the demise of the late leader.
Father of the present Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, Amutombi was born on January 13, 1933 and graduated from Gauhati University in 1956. He served as Headmaster and also as Principal of various schools and higher secondary Schools, before he joined active politics after retirement from Government service in 1978 .
Amutombi was elected to the 3rd Manipur Legislative Assembly from Mayang Imphal constituency on Congress ticket in 1980 and went on to become Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board.
He returned to the fifth Legislative Assembly in 1990 on Janata Dal ticket and elected and became the Deputy Chief Minister in the RK Ranbir led Ministry.
