Imphal, May 24 2018: The JAC against unnatural shifting of District Hospital Imphal East Sagolmang, has claimed that the Chief Minister has given a positive response regarding the District Hospital issue.

However, it also warned that if the final solution of the Government is against the wishes of the people, the JAC along with the CSOs, Meira Paibis and the public would launch intense agitation against such a move.

A press release issued by the convenor of the JAC today mentioned that members of the JAC met Chief Minister N Biren Singh at the Chief Minister's Secretariat on May 22 and during the meeting, the Chief Minister sympathised with the hardships faced by the people regarding the issue of the District Hospital.

It claimed that the CM assured to take up necessary actions against the erring parties in the issue and added that the CM proposed another meeting with the JAC members to bring a definite conclusion to the District Hospital issue.

However, the JAC warned that if the CM fails to provide a positive and clear cut solution to the issue at the time of the next meeting, the JAC, along with the people and various CSOs will intensify its agitation.

On the other hand, Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP) has appealed to the CM and the Health Minister to bring a swift and positive end to the Imphal East District Hospital issue at the earliest.

A press release issued by the vice president of MPP, stated that it would be the right thing for the State Government to bring a tangible solution to the issue by taking into consideration its emphasis on various people programmes like Go to Hills and Go to Village missions.

Claiming that construction of the hospital at Sagolmang is justified, it explained that Sagolmang is 23 kms away from Imphal while Saikul is 35 kms away from Imphal., The distance between Sagolmang and Saikul is about 22 kms.

The presence of the District Hospital at Sagolmang will ensure proper medical facilities for 75 villages of Khundrakpam Kendra and 250 villages of Saikul as well as various villages of Karong, Khurai and Heingang etc.

It added that it would be right for the State Government to construct the District Hospital at Sagolmang taking the wishes of the people into consideration.
