Manipur High Court celebrates 5th anniversary

As part of the 5th anniversary celebration of the High Court of Manipur, a one day legal awareness programme was organised under the sponsorship of Manipur Legal Services Authority at Mount Everest College, Taphou, Senapati.
Speaking as the chief guest, Justice Kh Nobin Singh reiterated the need and importance of knowing the laws of the land while stating that ignorance of law is not an excuse.
Lack of awareness also hinders in bringing justice for all, he added.
He further said that Legal Services Act had been enacted in order to provide free legal services to the people, with an aim to provide 'Justice for all' as envisage in the Preamble of the Constitution.
As there are only three legal clinics in Senapati Districts at the present, he further asked the people of the district to come forward to open more legal services and clinics and further assured to extend his full support in setting up the clinics.

Speaking as a resource person, I Bikramjit, Advocate, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Imphal East, delivered a lecture on the topic "Laws related to Children" .
The occasion was also attended by A Noutuneshwari Devi, District Session Judge, Senapati, Th Sobhana Devi, Vice president Bar Council of Manipur, Momota Oinam, Addl Advocate General, H Chandrajit Sharma, President, Bar Council of Manipur and H S Paonam, President, High Court Bar Association, Manipur.
Earlier as part of the celebration, a free legal services camp was launched by Justice Kh Nobin Singh at the Mini stadium, Senapati.
The free legal services camp was organised by the District Legal Services Authority, Senapati.
Various Departments of the Districts including Agriculture Departments, Forest Departments, Horticulture Departments, Health Departments and Social Welfare Department took part in the camp and provided information on various schemes provided under each Department.
Thousands of people across Senapati District and its neighbouring areas crowded the Camp.
During the camp, beneficiaries enrolled themselves in various schemes of the Government including Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT), Chief Ministergi Sotharabasingi Tengbang (CMST), Indira Gandhi Old Age Pension Scheme, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme.
Awareness on Forestry, Agriculture, Horticulture, and Banking were held during the camp apart from a free medical camp.
Certificates were also distributed to the beneficiaries so as to avoid the hurdles of getting documents for the application of those schemes.
