Imphal, July 23 2020: A 23-year-old man has been remanded to 5 more days police custody for alleged sexual assault of a minor girl on July 18.The accused identified as Rezaul Islam Laskar, s/o Abdul Kalique Laskar of Appin Haillakindi, Assam, who was staying at a brick field in Imphal West was produced before the Duty Magistrate Imphal West after the completion of six days police remand.

The accused was arrested after the mother of the minor victim lodged a complaint with the Women Police Station.

The accused had sexually assaulted the minor sexually between 12 noon and 5.30 pm of July 18, when both the parents were away for work, alleged the complaint.

On preliminary interrogation, the accused has admitted to have committed the crime.

Medical examination of the accused has been conducted.

The investigation is in the initial stage and thorough interrogation of the accused is highly required and statement of some prosecution witness is yet to be examined, submitted the Investigating Officer and prayed for five more days police remand.

The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO through APP, remanded the accused to five days police remand till July 27 .
