AIMS reiterates call for complete banning of intoxicants

While showing solidarity to the relay hunger strike being launched in demand of 12-point charter of demands to ensure a comprehensive COVID-19 counter measure policy, the Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) has reiterated its call to impose complete ban on intoxicants in the State.
AIMS in a statement, said that the sale and transportation of any sort of intoxicants including chewable and non chewable tobacco products should be stopped at the earliest in view of the deepening COVID-19 effect in the State.
The Government should also take a concrete stand on banning all kinds of intoxicants, it said while adding that AIMS will be commencing a mass drive to check the import of the said items to the State and its sale at various localities.
If the sale of intoxicants which can facilitate cough, cold, sore throat, flu etc, are not checked, it could worsened the COVID-19 situation in the State, it said.
Considering the ill effects, vending of such items at all localities should be stopped, AIMS said.
While informing that the body is set to conduct a mass drive and will not hesitate in disposing the said items at the spot.
AIMS also drew the attention of all local clubs, Meira Paibi bodies to extend support in their drives.
