Cabinet okays ex-gratia to firing, blast victims

Imphal, July 22 2014:
The State Cabinet has recommended payment of ex-gratia to those who sustained injuries during the firing attack at Finch Corner in Ukhrul as well as to those who sustained injuries in the bomb blast incident at Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai in Imphal west district on July 12 last.
The recommendation was made during a meeting of the Cabinet held from 4 pm today.
Accordingly, the State Government will provide ex-gratia payments of Rs.1.5 lakhs to van driver Kh.
Bigyanik (41) s/o Chaoba of Khurai Thongam Leikai, who sustained injuries during the firing incident at Finch Corner in Ukhrul, and Rs.1 lakh to Ratanmi Malue, nephew of deceased ADC Ukhrul member M.Ngalangzar, stated M.Okendro, Government Spokesman and Minister, Education, CAF & PD.
It may be recalled that on 12 July last, ADC Member Ngalangzar along with Ratanmi Malue headed to his village in Ukhrul to enquire about his mother's illness in the van belonging to Bigyanik.
Okendro further informed that the government will provide a sum of Rs.1 lakh to those who were seriously injured in the bomb blast at Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai, while a sum of Rs.20,000 each will be given to those not so seriously wounded victims.
Six persons sustained injuries in the bomb blast incident, he added.
