Didn't demand ransom: Meme Devi

Imphal, June 22 2020: After being freed on bail on June 18, Nahakpam Meme Devi who was charged for being involved in a kidnapping for ransom case, said that the charge was a conspiracy to tarnish her image.

Addressing the media along with members of local clubs and Meira Paibis at Charangpat Mamang Leikai Keithel today, Meme said that they didn't kidnap the two non-locals as alleged.

Instead, the two non-locals namely Birendra Shah (40), S/o Khilawan Shah of Bihar and Sanjoy Patel (40), S/o Arjun Choudhury who are presently residing at Thangal Bazar near Kasturi Bridge were business partners with Kangabam Jadumani some years back.

Kangabam Jadumani also treated them as family members, it added.
