Gold worth Rs 1.5 cr seized

Gold worth Rs 1.5 crore hidden and transported inside the fuel tank of a car (Tata Indica) has been seized by troops of 24 Assam Rifles.
The gold from Myanmar was being transported in a car (MN-07B-0424) after it was concealed inside the fuel tank.
The gold was being smuggled in the form of 26 biscuits and the car was heading towards lmphal from Moreh last morning.
The car was being driven by one Moirangthem Rajen s/ o Ibohanbi of Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai before the gold biscuits hidden inside its fuel tank were seized by troops of 24 AR led by Major Rocky at around 7.30 am yesterday.
The seized gold biscuits, the car driver and the car were handed over to Customs Preventive Force, Moreh this afternoon.
