Promoting other disciplines of Art & Culture necessary: Jayantakumar

Manipur State Archives, Directorate of Art & Culture, GoM organised the 40th Archives Week celebration at GM Hall today.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar said that to promote the Art and Culture of the State, importance should be given to the branches or disciplines of Art & Culture.
Saying that Art & Culture should not be taken lightly, the Minister continued that the public should realise the quality of Art and Culture.
He mentioned that although there is a need to safeguard and promote the archives and museum of the State, which portray the very history of the place, the initiative has been unsuccessful owing to the lack of funds.
Conveying that the Archives office building in Keishampat is in a pathetic condition, he mentioned that such condition is due to the absence of sufficient fund.
The Minister stressed on the need to raise awareness on the need to conserve the information stored in the archives.
Even though there is not enough fund in the budget, the Department is still doing its best, he claimed.
Jayantakumar conveyed that assurance has been given to provide Rs 60 lakh from the CSR fund of the Airport Authority of India and half of the amount will be given within March financial year.
He expressed that he is planning to complete the construction of the Archives building as soon as the fund arrives.
Commissioner Art & Culture M Joy and Director, Art & Culture Ng Uttam attended the function as president and guest of honour respectively.
