Imphal, December 21 2011:
Owning moral responsibility for failure of the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) not able to live up to the people's expectation, Committee president Ngamkhohao Haokip and general secretary Tonghen Kipgen have decided to resign from their respective posts with immediate effect.
A joint statement issued today, highlighted that memorandum of understanding on inauguration of Sadar.
Hills as a full-fledged autonomous district at the earliest possible time was signed between the Government of Manipur and SHDDC with due consent of all sections of Sadar Hills people.
Despite the agreement that Sadar Hills would be inaugurated after submission of the Committee on Reorganisation and Police District Boundary (CRA & PDB) report within the specified period, aspiration of the people of Sadar Hills could not materialise till date, conceded the president and general secretary.
While regretting that during the protracted agitation on the said issue the people of Manipur endured severe hardships, both owned moral responsibility for the people's movement failing to yield the desired result and consequently decided on stepping down as president and general secretary of SHDDC in the larger interest of people of Sadar Hills.
